Report: Kings agree to four-year, $22M extension with Adrian Kempe


In response to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, the Los Angeles Kings have agreed to a four-year contract with restricted free-agent Adrian Kempe. 

LeBrun added that an official announcement may come on Saturday. 

Whereas the phrases of the deal aren’t official, TSN’s Darren Dreger reviews Kempe’s new contract shall be price $22M in complete. 

Kempe, 25, had a breakout marketing campaign final season, main the Kings with a career-high 35 objectives. In 78 video games, Kempe completed with 54 factors (35 objectives, 19 assists), second on the workforce behind Anze Kopitar (67 factors). 

On Tuesday, Kings’ GM Rob Blake expressed the workforce’s urgency to retain Kempe.  

“One of many priorities for our group is to get Adrian Kempe signed straight away right here,” Blake told Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times. “Then we type of know our scenario if we’ve got to deal with wants in free company.” 

A primary-round decide by the Kings within the 2014 draft, Kempe made his NHL debut in 2016. In six seasons with Los Angeles, Kempe has compiled 186 factors (90 objectives, 96 assists) in 390 profession video games. Kempe has six factors (2 objectives, 4 assists) in 11 playoff video games with the Kings.
