Avalanche sign Alex Georgiev to three-year extension


On Sunday, the Colorado Avalanche introduced a three-year contract extension with goaltender Alexandar Georgiev.  

Whereas phrases of the deal weren’t launched, in response to a number of stories, the extension carries an AAV of $3.4 million. 

The Stanley Cup champion Avalanche acquired Georgiev on July 7 in a commerce with the New York Rangers in alternate for 3 draft picks. 

Final season with the Rangers, Georgiev completed 15-10-2 with two shutouts in 28 begins. He posted a 2.92 GAA and .898 SV%.

Georgiev noticed motion in two Stanley Cup playoff video games final season, going 0-1 with a 2.04 GAA and .935 SV%. 

“When he was a starter, he performed very well, and he wished a much bigger alternative, and he is bought that chance,” Avalanche EVP/GM Joe Sakic said. “He was trying ahead to the problem. What I like about it, he performed in an enormous market. He was in New York. He can cope with loads of that stuff. We’re excited for him.” 

In 5 seasons with the Rangers, Georgiev compiled a 58-48-11 document with a 2.94 GAA and .908 SV%.
